I noticed this jus read more.
2004 volvo s40 brake pedal to the floor.
If i hold my foot on the brake pedal while at rest with the engine on it sinks to around 1 from the floor.
Any one have an idea if i am doing something wrong or might have missed something to.
As title states my braking pedal sometimes goes to floor during driving mainly when i m in a traffic jam and using the brakes actively.
After starting the engine i found the brake pedal would slowly drift to the floor when applied.
I ve gathered all the threads which seem to relate to the same problem with the x40 and their brakes.
Figured ok checked every were no leaks found.
Must be bad master cyl.
Hello i have an 2004 s40 in the uk.
I tried bleeding since i know i got air in the system i fully drained 1 of the calipers.
It doesn t stop or slow the car at all.
S40 v50 forum 2004 5 volvo s40 v40 forum 2000 2004 c30 c70 2006 s40 v50 2004 volvo xc40 240 740 760 780 bertone 940 960 v90 s90.
I also used the regular 2 man method.
It doesn t build pressure after pumping.
I d like to highlight this one as my 2001 v40 had the same problem which appeared to be fixed but when the brakes were really needed this week they failed and the car was written off.
Driving a 2007 volvo s40 automatic transmission.
Very common issue on the 1st gen s40.
Brakes seem to work fine otherwise.
Car still has soft goes to floor pedal.
I used the 1 man method with a hose and a bottle.
Brake pedal spongy goes to floor no biting point etc.
With the car off step on the brake pedal until it becomes firm.
Put the key into position 2 before starting and see if you can hear the vacuum assist pump run.
Hoping some one can help me have an 02 v70xc.
The brake pedal should become easy to push again.
Pedal slowly sinks to floor.
Replaced with new oe ate master cyl.
